SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 009.24 to provide a summary of Switzerland’s amendments to its ordinance on food contact materials (FCM) and articles.
Official Collection 2023 836 was published in December 2023, revising Ordinance on Materials and articles Intended to Come into Contact with Foodstuffs. Its primary purpose is the harmonization of the national law with regulations in the European Union.
SGS publishes SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 009.24 includes a list of the provisions within the ordinance and a helpful, detailed table highlighting the amendments.

Amendments to the nation’s law on FCM and articles will come into effect on February 1, 2024.
