SGS Summarizes New Zealand Ban on PFHxS and PFHxS related Compounds

SGS, the world’s leading testing inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 011.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of New Zealand’s prohibition on perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds under the nation’s Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996.

The ban came into effect on October 5, 2023, following a consultation in February and the issuing of an order to revise the act in September.

Stakeholders are advised to review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 011.24 and ensure their products conform to the lastest New Zealand regulations.
