SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 080.24 to keep stakeholders informed about changes to China’s national product standards for knitted t-shirts – GB/T 22849.
GB/T 22849-2024 was issued as part of China’s No.1 announcement on approved national standards in 2024 by the Standardization Administration of China. It replaces the previous iteration – GB/T 22849-2014 – and will become effective on October 1, 2024.
GB/T 22849-2024 applies to t-shirts made predominantly from knitted fabrics and does not apply to knitted t-shirts made for infants who are not older than 36 months. It should be noted, t-shirts worn by children aged three to 14 years must also comply with GB 31701.
SGS experts issue SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 080.24 contains details of the provisions in GB/T 22849-2024 along with a list of the additions, revisions and deletions stemming from the adoption of the latest version of the standard.
Stakeholders are advised to review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 080.24 for more information.
