Geneva (August 19, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is pleased to announce a complimentary webinar titled ‘Next-Generation Sunscreen Efficacy Testing: Non-Erythemal, Non-Pigmentation Approaches Using ISO 23675 and ISO 23698’, taking place on September 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM (EDT).
With the recent publication of ISO 23675 (Double Plate Method, DPM) and ISO 23698 (Hybrid Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy, HDRS), the sunscreen industry is experiencing a pivotal shift toward non-erythemal, non-pigmentation sunscreen testing methods. These newly standardized approaches, based on UVR transmittance spectroscopy and spectral absorbance measurements, offer greater ethical alignment, reduced cost and complexity and the potential to complement or replace traditional in vivo erythemal testing.
In this live webinar, Stephan Bielfeldt, Senior Expert, Science & Innovation, SGS, Frédéric Nunzi, Head of SGS IDEA Lab, and Saeid Nik, Principal Investigator for SGS in North America, will provide scientific, regulatory and operational insights into the application of ISO 23675 and ISO 23698. Topics will include method selection, testing infrastructure, and key challenges related to regulatory acceptance, water resistance and real-world applicability.
Attendees will also gain a deeper understanding of when to apply in vitro, hybrid or in vivo approaches, and how to build a robust ‘weight-of-evidence’ dossier to support efficacy claims, speed to market and sustainability goals. The webinar will conclude with a panel discussion and live Q&A session.
This event is ideal for professionals involved in the development, formulation, testing or regulation of sunscreen products, including R&D teams, regulatory affairs specialists, ingredient manufacturers and product developers.
