SGS to host complimentary webinar to help apparel, textile and footwear brands understand and manage their wastewater requirements

SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification,
testing and certification company, is to host a live webinar to help apparel, textile and footwear brands better
understand the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines and take action to remedy non-conformance.

The interactive webinar ‘Root Cause Analysis for Chemicals in
Wastewater’
will set out the purpose and requirements of ZDHC
Wastewater Guidelines, provide a better understanding of chemical management
and explain how to conduct root cause analysis in the event of a failed
wastewater test.

Developed by brands,
suppliers, academia, laboratories and tech companies within the
industry, ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines address the problems of chemicals
discharged from manufacturing sites. The issue has become a worldwide
environmental concern and failure to meet industry requirements, as evidenced
by wastewater testing results, is becoming a pain point for manufacturers and suppliers.

The Guidelines set a unified standard on wastewater quality for the global
apparel, textile and footwear supply chain. They have been designed to:

  • Ensure wastewater discharges do not have an adverse impact on communities and the environment
  • Harmonize expectations globally for wastewater monitoring and testing
  • Aid suppliers with sharing wastewater discharge data with the brand(s) they work with
  • Reduce workload and cost for suppliers who would otherwise need to meet requirements variously set
    by brands and NGOs.

Webinar presenter, Craig Zhang, GSTS Project Manager at SGS, will guide
participants

through the purpose and requirements of the Guidelines to give a greater
understanding of the importance of chemical management. He will analyze the
2020 wastewater data to highlight frequent failures and explore root cause
analysis services and case studies.

The webinar is aimed particularly at suppliers of Detox/ZDHC Signatory
brands, especially those with wet processing facilities, and takes place on
April 20, 2021 at 4pm (Shanghai, GMT +8).
