Geneva (February 2, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 013.25, summarizing amendments to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Cosmetic Directive following the ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) meeting in Thailand in November 2024.
The ASEAN Cosmetic Directive is an agreement among the ten member states of the ASEAN political and economic union. It aims to harmonize safety, quality and efficacy requirements for cosmetic products while facilitating regional trade.
Version 2024-2 of the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive includes updates to:
– Annex II – lists substances banned in cosmetic products
– Annex III – list of substances that cosmetics products must not contain, except those subject to specified restrictions and conditions
– Annex VII – lists UV filters permitted in cosmetic products
