SGS, the world’s leading testing inspection and certification company, is hosting a complimentary webinar for footwear manufacturers, brands, buying agents and distributors, that will explore the latest regulations for selling footwear in India. ‘BIS Footwear Regulations for India’ takes place on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
Keeping up with legal standards is essential if businesses are to achieve fuss-free and compliant trading for their footwear products in India. This webinar explores the latest regulations issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), as promulgated by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industries. Three Quality Control Orders (QCOs), previously postponed from October 29, 2020, one QCO for Personal Protective Footwear have come into force from January 1, 2022, and the other two QCOs will now become effective as of July 1, 2022. These two QCOs will apply to footwear made from all-rubber and all-polymeric material and its components, as well as footwear made from leather and other materials. These regulations do not apply for goods or articles meant for other overseas markets.
SGS expert Venkatesan will discuss the testing and application process necessary for accessing footwear markets, for both Indian and overseas footwear manufacturers. There will also be the opportunity to learn how SGS can help with gaining a BIS license for footwear, and a Q&A session.
