China’s new industry standard for jackets – FZ/T 81008-2021 – came into
effect on July 1, 2021. Issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and
Information Technology as part of the No. 6 announcement on approved industry
standards, made in 2021, it replaces FZ/T 81008-2011.
The updated standard is applicable to jackets that are predominantly
made from woven fabrics. It does not apply to jackets for infants aged less
than or equal to 36 months.
The standard includes multiple additions, revisions and deletions. These
include the addition of requirements for trim and embroidery thread
colorfastness and tear force, revisions to physical and chemical performance
and the direction of warp and weft, and the deletion of a test method for seam
slippage.
