Geneva (October 9, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 147.25 to keep stakeholders informed about the European Union’s restriction of Dechlorane Plus under Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) (POP Recast Regulation).
Dechlorane Plus (DP) has several applications, including:
– Adhesives, polymers and sealants
– Cables and wires in motor vehicles
– Products made from apparel, fabrics and textiles (e.g. carpets, clothing, curtains and mattresses) and plastics (e.g. food packaging, storage materials and toys)
– Consumer electronics
– Marine, garden, forestry, agriculture and construction machinery
– Medical and radiotherapy applications
It has been included in Annex A of the Stockholm Convention on POPs, with specific exemptions.
