ECHA Consults Over Three Chemicals as SVHC

Geneva (March 31, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 042.25, reporting on the European Chemical Agency’s (ECHA) consultation on the listing of three chemicals as substances of very high concern (SVHC).

The SVHC list identifies chemicals that may have hazardous effects on human, animal or environmental health. The latest consultation covers three chemicals:
– 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyl-3-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]trisiloxane
– Decamethyltetrasiloxane
– Reactive Brown 51

Comments will be accepted until April 14, 2025, and if the additions are approved, the number of SVHCs on the Candidate List will rise from 247 to 250.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to inform stakeholders about market and regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 042.25 includes additional information on the proposed additions and their potential applications.

Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 042.25 for more details.
