EU Proposes Regulations on PFHxS and PFHxS-related Compounds

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is advising stakeholders that the European Union (EU) is proposing to regulate perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds in consumer products.

The European Commission held a one-month consultation between February 9 and March 9, 2023, covering the proposal to include PFHxS, its salts and PFHxS-related compounds under Part A of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants (POP Recast Regulation).

SGS has published SafeGuardS 023.23 to help businesses understand the proposed restrictions. Included in the SafeGuardS is a table with highlights of the provisions in the draft proposal.

Stakeholders are advised to review original SafeGuardS 023.23 to learn more.
