Hong Kong has launched a public consultation into proposed changes
to its Toys and Children’s Safety Ordinance.
If accepted, the proposed changes will update the safety standards
that toys (Schedule 1), and three categories of Schedule 2 Products, are
obliged to conform to under the Ordinance. The changes relate to the following
products (proposed new standard included):
- Toys – ISO 8124-3:2020
- Toys – BS EN 71-7:2014+A3:2020
- Bunk beds for domestic use – ASTM
F1427-19 - Children’s highchairs and multi-purpose highchairs (domestic use)
– BS EN 14988:2017+A1:2020 - Children’s paints – ISO 8124-3:2020

The proposed new standards are the latest versions of the
currently enforced standards.
The authorities in Hong Kong will accept comments until December
31, 2020.
