SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is advising stakeholders that Hong Kong has revised four children’s product standards.
Under Hong Kong law, all toys and children’s products must comply with the applicable provisions in at least one of the safety standards specified in either Schedule 1 (Toy Standards) or Schedule 2 (Product Standards) of the Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance.
On February 17, 2023, Hong Kong issued Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 2) Notice 2023. This revised the following four standards for children’s products falling under Schedule 2. The new standards are:
– Bunk beds for domestic use – ASTM F1427-21e1
– Child safety barriers for domestic use – ASTM F1004-21
– Children’s highchairs and multi-purpose highchairs for domestic use – ASTM F404-21
– Wheeled child conveyances – ASTM F833-21
– The new standards will come into effect on August 1, 2023.
