Baar (January 6, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 182.25, highlighting Moldova’s harmonization with the EU’s RoHS Directive through its adoption of HG 643/2025 on the restriction of hazardous substances.
HG 643/2025 was adopted on October 10, 2025, and approved a Technical Regulation restricting the use of dangerous substances in electrical and electronic (E&E) equipment. It brings Moldova into line with the EU’s RoHS Directive and other international standards, providing a legislative framework for the protection of human and environmental health.
The Moldovan regulation includes restrictions on heavy metals such as lead, mercury and cadmium as well as certain flame retardants, in E&E equipment, many of which are mirrored in the EU RoHS Directive.
HG 643/2025 marks Moldova’s continuing moves to update its technical regulations and fulfill EU commitments. Its broad recognition of CE-marked products with a valid EU Declaration of Conformity for most regulated E&E devices also eliminates the need for additional national certification.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 182.25 contains further useful information on manufacturer/importer obligations under HG 643/2025.
Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 182.25 for more details.
