New Chinese Product Standard for Artificial Fur Garments Issued

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 183.25, highlighting the revision of China’s FZ/T 81009-2024 product standard for artificial fur garments. The new standard will become effective on July 1, 2026.

The revisions are applicable to garments mainly made of an artificial fur shell, or artificial fur materials used in the inner linings of garments. They do not apply to similar garments intended for infants under 36 months old.

Included in the No.18 announcement of approved industry standards from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, FZ/T 81009-2024 aligns with the rules in GB 18401 and GB 31701 and contains multiple updates compared with the previous iteration (FZ/T 81009-2014).

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 183.25 provides information about the main technical differences from the previous version of the standard, including safety and internal quality requirements, as well as additions and revisions.

Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 183.25 for more details.
