Thailand’s Ministry of Industry has mandated
the use of TIS 969-2562 (2019) as the new standard for the rubber nipples used
on feeding bottles.
According to the
standard, rubber nipples for feeding bottles must conform to provisions
relating to:
- Migration
of eight elements:- Antimony (Sb): no
more than 15 mg/kg - Arsenic (As): no more
than 10 mg/kg - Barium (Ba): no more
than 100 mg/kg - Cadmium (Cd): no more
than 20 mg/kg - Chromium (Cr): no
more than 10 mg/kg - Lead: no more than 25
mg/kg - Mercury (Hg): no more
than 10 mg/kg - Selenium (Se): no
more than 100 mg/kg
- Antimony (Sb): no
- Release
of N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances - 2-mercaptobenzothiazole
release - Antioxidant
release - Formaldehyde
release - Volatile
compound content

This regulation was
published following consultation with manufacturers and users, and with
reference to:

Issued in June 2021, it
will become effective on December 13, 2021. Stakeholders are advised to now
check their products conform to the latest Thai regulations.
