SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS on the European Union’s (EU) enforcement of new rules under the Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Chemicals (CLP) Regulation.
Regulation (EU) 2024/2856 amends Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and is intended to strengthen chemical safety and information transparency in the light of globalization, technological developments and new sales platforms such as the internet.
Entering into force on December 10, 2024, 20 days after publication in the Official Journal of the EU, certain provisions in Regulation (EU) 2024/2856 will be implemented in phases from July 1, 2026.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 169.24 includes two helpful tables with highlights of the CLP revisions as well as the new requirements for package capacity and labeling/pictogram/font size.
Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 169.24 for more details.
