SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a Consumer Compact article exploring sustainability in today’s consumer electronics.
Companies like Samsung Display produce innovative products from resources and supply chains that are increasingly scrutinized for their environmental impact. This article highlights how partnering with SGS for hazardous substances assessment allowed Samsung Display to provide consumers with trusted labeling, demonstrating conformity with predefined standards for sustainability in their organic light-emitting diode (OLED) notebook displays.
The results of the assessment enabled Samsung Display to demonstrate low levels of hazardous substances, heralding them “a great achievement in the development of our eco-friendly technology”. Hazardous substances assessment (HAS) certification allowed them to display the SGS HAS Green Mark, one of several environmental certification schemes offered by SGS to bring trust to the crowded ecolabeling market.
SGS’s Consumer Compact article looks at the background and scale of the hazardous substances issue, as well as trends in consumer responses to it that lead companies such as Samsung Display to evaluate and demonstrate the quality and safety of their products through certification programs like the SGS HAS Green Mark.
