SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published highlights of Regulation (EU) 2024/2462 concerning the use of undecafluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA), its salts and PFHxA-related substances.
These chemicals are found in a wide variety of products, including firefighting foams, textile coatings, metal plating and polishing agents. To be implemented in phases from April 10, 2026, the regulation is a new addition to the European Union’s (EU) REACH legislation. It includes a definition of PFHxA, its salts and PFHxA-related substances, along with certain exemptions.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulations that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 145.24 provides a helpful table of Regulation (EU) 2024/2462 highlights, including requirements and effective dates, plus details of the exemptions.
Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 145.24 for more details.
