SGS To Host Complimentary Webinar: Selling Safe Childcare Articles in France

SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and
certification company, is inviting
retailers, brand
owners, designers and manufacturers of childcare products
to a complimentary webinar on March
26
to learn about and comply with special regulations around
the sale of their goods in France.

Everything you always wanted to know about French Decree 91-1292:
Type examination (but were afraid to ask)
’ explores
the rules governing safety of childcare articles in France – regulation,
scope, safety requirements and type examination. Published
by France’s Ministry of Industry in 1991 to protect children under the
age of four from risks linked to the use of childcare articles, French Decree
91-1292 has
since been updated to address a European Market
and the development of new products and new functions.

This webinar will explore the principles and latest
requirements of the regulation and its background of safety philosophy. Participants
will gain the knowledge and tools to assess the safety and compliance of their
products in order to access the French market.

Webinar presenter, Catherine Follin-Arbelet –
Global Business Development and Technical Manager, Juvenile Products
at SGS said: “Parents and caregivers want to be confident that
the products they purchase have been created with the safety of their children
in mind.
Childcare equipment and
children’s furniture may appear safe, but these products can pose hazards if
they are not manufactured to exacting safety rules.

France was the first country to publish a regulation
specific to childcare articles.
We have designed this complimentary
webinar to help ensure those involved in the design, manufacture and sale of
childcare products are equipped to demonstrate the safety and quality of their
goods to confidently sell their products in France.”

Catherine has acquired many years’ experience
in juvenile products, initially in private testing labs developing juvenile
products testing services. She joined SGS in 2010 as Manager of Children
Products Testing, and today participates in CEN standardization works through
European working groups. Catherine is convener of two working groups, on the
safety of wheeled child conveyances (strollers, prams and pushchairs) and the
safety of furniture for children (including cots, chairs, mattresses).
