SGS Publishes Overview of Revised Moldovan Standards for Children’s Product Safety

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS that details the latest list of standards for presumption of conformity with Moldova’s general product safety law (Law No 422/2006).

The country’s Ministry of Economy issued Order No. 59/2022 on July 8, 2022. This transposes European Union (EU) Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1698 and its amendment under Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1808 on European standards for products drafted in support of Directive 2001/95/EC (General Product Safety Directive, GPSD).

Highlights with regards to children’s products include (Annex No., Moldovan standard, EU standard):

  • 19 – SM SR EN 1130-1:2012 = EN 1130-1:1996 ‘Furniture – Cribs and cradles for domestic use. Part 1: Safety requirements’
  • 20 – SM SR EN 1130-2:2012 = EN 1130-2:1996 ‘Furniture – Cribs and cradles for domestic use. Part 2: Test methods’
  • 21 – SM SR EN 1273:2013 = EN 1273:2005 ‘Child use and care articles – Baby walking frames – Safety requirements and test methods’
  • 26 – SM EN 1466:2016 = EN 1466:2014 ‘Child use and care articles – Carry cots and stands – Safety requirements and test methods’
  • 29 – SM EN 1930:2016 = EN 1930:2011 ‘Child use and care articles – Safety barriers – Safety requirements and test methods’
  • 46 – SM EN 12221-1:2008+A1:2016 = EN 12221-1:2008+A1:2013 ‘Child use and care articles – Changing units for domestic use – Part 1: Safety requirements’
  • 47 – SM EN 12221-2:2008+A1:2016 = EN 12221-2:2008+A1:2013 ‘Child use and care articles – Changing units for domestic use – Part 2: Test Methods’
  • 58 – SM SR EN 13209-1:2012 = EN 13209-1:2004 ‘Child use and care articles – baby carriers – Safety requirements and test methods – Part 1: Framed back carriers’

  • 69 – SM EN 14682:2016 = EN 14682:2014 ‘Safety of children’s clothing – Cords and drawstrings on children’s clothing – Specifications’
  • 82 – SM SR EN 16281:2015 = EN 16281:2013 ‘Child protective products – Consumer fitted child resistant locking devices for windows and balcony doors – Safety requirements and test methods’
  • 85 – SM EN 16890:2017 = EN 16890:2017 ‘Children’s furniture – Mattresses for cots and cribs – Safety requirements and test methods’
  • 86 – SM EN 17022:2019 = EN 17022:2018 ‘Childcare articles – Bathing aids – Safety requirements and test methods’
  • 87 – SM EN 17072:2019 = EN 17072:2018 ‘Childcare articles – Bathtubs, stands and non-standalone bathing aids – Safety requirements and test methods’

Order No. 59/2022 repeals Order No. 406/2018 and came into effect on August 8, 2022.
