SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is advising stakeholders that China has released a new product standard for woven capes – FZ/T81024-2022.
The new standard was issued by the Chinese Ministry of industry and Information Technology as part of No. 10 announcement of approved industry standards in 2022. It applies to capes made predominantly from woven fabrics but is not applicable to woven capes aimed at infants aged 36 months or less.
A cape is defined in the standard as a spacious sleeveless coat that wraps around the shoulders and arms.
SGS has published SafeGuardS 002.23 to help manufacturers and suppliers of woven capes understand the scope and impact of FZ/T 81024-2022. The SafeGuardS includes a list of the provisions covered by the standard.
Stakeholders should be aware that woven capes for children aged three to 14 must also comply with GB 31701.
The new standard came into effect on October 1, 2022. Manufacturers and suppliers are now advised to check their woven cape products comply with the latest standard.
