SGS Publishes Slipper Filler Labeling Exemptions Update for Utah

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published an overview of the state of Utah’s updated regulatory requirements for slipper filling material labeling.

Slippers containing filling materials in the top portion are exempt from the requirement to list the filling material in the bottom portion of the slipper. The exemption has been made to simplify conformity procedures for manufacturers whilst still ensuring transparency and consumer safety, and has been effective since June 26, 2024.

All bedding, upholstered furniture and clothing containing filling materials is regulated under the state’s Bedding, Upholstered Furniture and Quilted Clothing Inspection Act.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulations that may impact on their business. SafeGuardS 121.24 provides useful links to full details of the Notice of Exemption and the Utah Bedding, Upholstered Furniture and Quilted Clothing Inspection Act.

Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 121.24 for full details of the exemption, including related requirements.
