SGS Summarizes New Argentine Labeling Requirements for Imported Textiles, Garments and Footwear

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS summarizing Argentina’s Resolution 49/2024, which streamlines the labeling requirements for imported textiles, garments and footwear.

Resolution 49/2024 replaces Resolution No. 404/16 of the Argentine Ministry of Commerce and modifies articles in Resolutions No. 26/96 and No. 850/96. It updates the nation’s labeling requirements by repealing and replacing specific articles in the previous regulations. The aim is to simplify labeling practices and enhance trade efficiencies in Argentina. There will also be a change to the requirements for submission of a declaration of composition of products (DJCP) as a prerequisite for commercialization.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulations that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 109.24 provides a useful overview of Resolution 49/2024. In addition to the summary, it includes details of key updates to the Unique Tax Identification Code (CUIT) and Mercosur-wide requirements.

Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 109.24 for more details.

Resolution 49/2024 will take effect one day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
