SGS Summarizes Revision to Two Standards for Toy Safety in Switzerland

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 092.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of Switzerland’s amendment to its Ordinance of the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) (Toys Ordinance).

Official Collection 2024 249 was published on June 5, 2024. It amends two standards falling under Annex 4 of the ordinance:
– Migration of certain elements – SN EN 71-3:2019+A1:2021
– Olfactory board games, cosmetic kits and gustative games – SN EN 71-13:2021+A1:2022

Switzerland’s Toys Ordinance contains elements of the European Union’s Directive 2009/48/EC, the so-called Toy Safety Directive (TSD) and Annex XVII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (Annex XVII of REACH).

The new standards will come into effect on July 1, 2024.
