SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS detailing an update to the European Union (EU) list of standards that demonstrate conformity with Directive 2009/48/EC, the so-called Toy Safety Directive (TSD).
On April 5, 2023, the EU issued Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/740, which revises the safety standard for olfactory board games, cosmetic kits and gustative games from EN 71-13:2021 to EN 71-13:2021+A1:2022. The change reflects two directives on allergenic fragrances – Directive (EU) 2020/2088 and Directive (EU) 2020/2089.
SGS has published SafeGuardS 045.23 detailing the change and includes a current list of the harmonized standards that show presumption of conformity with the TSD.
Stakeholders should be aware the updated list came into effect on April 5, 2023, the day it was published in the Official Journal of the EU (OJEU).
