SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 075.23 to help stakeholders understand the latest developments affect tent flammability in Canada.
Health Canada published its proposed Tents Regulations on June 17, 2023. This aims to improve the requirements that are appropriate to address the flammability hazards associated with tent materials currently available in the market and reduce the use of flame retardant. If accepted, the new requirements will cause amendments to both the Toys Regulations and Textile Flammability Regulations.
SGS has published SafeGuardS 075.23 to provide an overview of the impacts the Tents Regulation will have on the regulations governing toys and textile flammability. Stakeholders are advised to review SGS’s original SafeGuardS to learn more.
Health Canada is accepting comments on the proposal until August 26, 2023.
