SGS Summarizes EU Expansion to Union List Under Food Contact Plastics Regulation

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS to help businesses understand a recent change to the European Union (EU) positive list for authorized substances for food contact plastics.

Regulation (EU) 2023/1627 was issued on August 11, 2023. This adds one substance to the Union List falling under Annex I of Regulation (EU) 10/2011, the Food Contact Plastics Regulation.

The amendment authorizes bis(2-ethylhexyl)cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylate (DEHCH).
