SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is advising stakeholders at Hong Kong has recently held a one-month consultation on its proposal to adopt newer standards for four categories of children’s products.
The consultation ran from December 1 to 31, 2022. It covered the adoption of up-to-date standards for four categories of Schedule 2 Products under Hong Kong’s ‘Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance’ (the Ordinance).
These were:
– ASTM F1427-21e1 ‘Bunk beds for domestic use’
– ASTM F1004-21 ‘Child safety barriers for domestic use’
– ASTM F404-21 ‘Children’s highchairs and multi-purpose highchairs for domestic use’
– ASTM F833-21 ‘Wheeled child conveyances’
Stakeholders should be aware a previous revision to the Ordinance was announced in February 2022 and came into effect in September 2022. Information on this and the recent consultation can be found in SafeGuard 137.22
