SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a Consumer Compact article answering common queries on the UL 2849 safety standard for electrical systems in e-bikes.
This standard is recognized by the Approved American National Standard (ANSI) and the National Standard of Canada. It has received wider recognition since December 2022, following a recommendation by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The Consumer Compact article provides background and detail on UL 2849, including key issues such as battery certification, U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) adoption, differing U.S. state requirements and SGS’s accredited testing services for manufacturers and retailers.
