SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS to help manufacturers and suppliers of nursing garments gain a better understanding of China’s new national standard GB/T 41902-2022.
The new standard was issued by the Standardization Administration of China, included in China’s No. 13 announcement of approved national standards in 2022, and came into effect on May 1, 2023. It is applicable to garments made primarily from textile fabrics with a breastfeeding design (opening at the front of the chest) and which are suitable for breastfeeding women. This includes tops, camisoles and dresses.
It is also applicable to accessories such as breastfeeding cover-up towels and breastfeeding shawls.
SGS has published SafeGuardS 051.23 to help stakeholders gain a better understanding of the technical requirements of GB/T 41902-2022. It provides information on the requirements relating to garment structure safety, internal quality and appearance quality.
