SGS Summarizes Updated Childcare Article Standards in France

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 025.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of four changes made to France’s list of standards for presumption of conformity in relation to Decree 91-1292 for childcare articles.

The four updated standards are:
– NF EN 1888-2+A1 (December 2022) – ‘Childcare articles – Wheeled child conveyances – Part 2: Pushchairs for children above15 kg up to 22 kg’
– NF EN 12790-1 (March 2023) – ‘Childcare articles – Reclined cradles – Part 1: Reclined cradles for children up to when they start to try to sit up’
– NF EN 12790-2 (March 2023) – ‘Childcare articles – Reclined cradles – Part 2: Reclined cradles for children up to when they start to stand up’
– NF EN 16232+A2 (September 2023) – ‘Child use and care articles – Infant swings’

The new list was issued on January 24, 2024.

Products conforming to the superseded standards can be manufactured, placed onto the market and imported until December 1, 2024. They can then be marketed until stocks are exhausted.

SGS publishes SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 025.24 contains details of the new standards and the ones they replace alongside information about compliance for car seats and carrycots and European standard equivalence.

Stakeholders are advised to review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 025.24 for more information.
